Measure process-level emissions with real data
In cement, aluminum, iron and steel, fertilizer, plastic and textile manufacturing, high energy consumption, complex process emissions and manual data collection deepen reliance on outside consultants. CarbonSmart pulls your process data directly from ERP and IoT sources and maps it to emission factors, reducing hours-long calculations to minutes.
The Sector's Real Problems
From data collection to reporting — every step breaks
High energy intensity and emissions from numerous process sources
Manual calculation of process-based emissions such as clinker, electrolysis and blast furnace
Off-site consultant dependency and reporting cycles that take months
Disconnected data flow between CBAM, ISO 14064 and customer carbon questionnaires
Sub-Sectors
Every sub-sector has its own unique carbon story
Cement production
In clinker production, calcination-driven CO₂ emissions, combined with the fuel mix and electricity consumption, dominate the Scope 1 share. Monthly calculations are still run on spreadsheets.
CarbonSmart pulls clinker production volume, fuel mix and electricity consumption hourly from DCS/PI systems and produces an emission map with Ecoinvent and Tier-3 process factors.
Monthly Scope 1 reporting drops from 4 days to 30 minutes; CBAM embedded emissions are delivered to suppliers on a per-clinker basis.
Aluminum extrusion
The energy split between electrolysis and extrusion lines is not transparent; Scope 2 disaggregation is missing for export reporting (CBAM).
Meter-level IoT data combined with bill-of-materials matching calculates the energy share specific to each extrusion profile; regional electricity factors are applied automatically.
kgCO₂e per product can be delivered to European buyers; an annual emission reduction of 8–12% is planned through competitive profile selection.
Iron and steel
Scope 1 emissions are intensive across blast furnace, BOF and EAF processes, and consolidation of data from multiple plants is weak.
Multi-location structure management reports each plant in a modular fashion; scrap ratio, coking coal and electricity mix are tracked parametrically.
Group-level consolidated Scope 1-2 reports in a single click; supplier and buyer questionnaires exported in standard templates.
Fertilizer production
In ammonia and nitric acid production, N₂O and CO₂ emissions dominate Scope 1; the need for IPCC Tier-2/Tier-3 calculations is high.
Process-based input-output flows (mass balance) are defined; IPCC coefficients and locally validated emission factors are applied.
A facility emission inventory is produced in ISO 14064-1 format; reporting requirements for climate labels and export customers are met.
Platform Features
Sector-specific, end-to-end integrated
Process-level data collection
Process data is pulled automatically from DCS, SCADA and OEE systems; operator logs and Excel sources are also integrated without intermediate servers.
ERP and IoT integration
Ready-made connectors for ERPs such as SAP, Netsis, Logo and Oracle, and for Siemens/Schneider PLC/IoT devices. Connect to your own systems via API.
Automatic emission factor matching
Ecoinvent, DEFRA, EPA eGRID and TÜİK emission factors are applied automatically; selected based on location, fuel mix and electricity mix.
Multi-location structure
Group companies, regions, facilities and lines are modeled hierarchically; emissions, intensity (kgCO₂e/ton) and energy KPIs are reported separately at every level.
Batch and product-level analysis
Footprint calculation by production batch or product SKU — product-level breakdowns ready for supplier questionnaires and CBAM reports.
Real-time anomaly detection
Consumption and emission spikes that deviate from expectations are flagged via ML; the process engineer can intervene the same day.
Success Story
Borusan Boru — Corporate Carbon Footprint
Corporate carbon footprint calculation across Borusan Boru's multi-location manufacturing operations was executed end-to-end on the CarbonSmart platform.
Energy, fuel, process and logistics data from three facilities flowed into CarbonSmart through ERP integration. Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 categories were calculated in line with ISO 14064-1; consolidated group-level reporting and facility-level breakdowns were produced in parallel. Audit-ready inventory documentation was exported as a single package via the platform.
Calculation cycle reduced from months to days
Three facilities consolidated in a single dashboard
ISO 14064-1 compliant inventory documentation delivered ready-to-use
Product-level breakdown for CBAM and customer questionnaires
